As a child, Nichole had many stomach aches and tired easily. At the age of 7, she was diagnosed with celiac disease. A year later, we moved to Atlanta and found the most amazing group for kids with celiac. The group hosts gluten free camps for kids with celiac. Our family attended the family camp in 2010, and Nichole attended the summer camp for the first time this year. The girls all had a blast at camp. We have met some great friends that we wouldn't have ever met, if it weren't for this camp. Since the summer camp, she has gone to gluten free birthday parties and has joined a soccer team with one of her celiac buddies. Camp Weekaneatit provides the unique experience of being with other kids that have celiac and gives the kids a week of being able to eat what all the other kids are eating. There's no special pizza or birthday cake, etc. It's all gluten free. This camp does not have a corporate sponsor. In order for this camp to continue, we need to raise funds.
